European-Style Sow Farrowing Crate

The European-style farrowing crate is a modern single-unit farrowing pen. It first came out in Europe and America, then got introduced to China and optimized a lot here. It's made specially for sows when they're farrowing and lactating, taking both animal welfare and production efficiency pretty seriously. It can cut down the piglet crushing rate a lot, and also improve the hygiene of the pen-now it's basically standard gear for large-scale pig farms.

Structure and Configuration

Pen Body: Welded with hot-dip galvanized steel pipes, so the whole thing is corrosion-resistant. The standard single unit size is 2.4m × 1.8m, double unit is 2.4m × 3.6m. The sow restraint width is adjustable (60–70cm), can fit sows of different sizes. There are movable anti-crushing bars at the middle and rear part, they can slow down the sow's descent and stop piglets from being crushed. Front and rear have independent doors, easy to operate.

Fence: The piglet area uses PVC partitions, it can prevent cross-infection, and also keep out the wind and retain heat.

Flooring System: Sow area uses cast iron or triangular steel slatted floor-it's strong enough to bear heavy loads, and won't pinch the piglets' nipples. Piglet area uses plastic slatted floor-small temperature difference, won't hurt the piglets' hooves. The base beams are made of fiberglass, directly supported by manure channels, corrosion-resistant and quick to install.

Feeding and Watering: Equipped with stainless steel flip-over feed troughs, which are easy to clean. Both sows and piglets have their own stainless steel waterers.
