Multi-shaft screw conveyors and single-shaft screw conveyors are two common types of continuous conveying equipment in industrial production. They differ significantly in structure, working principle, application scenarios, and performance characteristics. Correct selection is crucial for production efficiency, energy consumption, and material adaptability.

Conveying Capacity and Anti-clogging Performance: Single-shaft screw conveyors have a simple structure, but they are prone to material entanglement or bridging (such as certain municipal waste or dewatered sludge) when handling highly viscous, easily tangled, or easily bridging materials. Multi-shaft conveyors (especially the interlocking blade type) effectively break up material accumulation and prevent bridging, achieving stable and forced conveying, and have a stronger capacity for handling special materials.

Sealing Performance and Environmental Friendliness: Both can be made into closed pipe systems when conveying dusty, toxic, or easily airborne materials. However, multi-shaft structures, due to their more complex components, require higher sealing design requirements at the inlet, outlet, and shaft ends. Well-designed multi-shaft equipment has better potential in preventing dust spillage and gas backflow.

Energy Consumption and Maintenance: Single-shaft structures are simple, with typically lower drive power (for common materials), fewer maintenance points, and lower costs. Multi-shaft structures are more complex, requiring a synchronous gearbox to ensure synchronization between the two shafts. Initial costs and drive power are usually higher, and maintenance is also relatively more complex.

Mixing Function: Single-shaft systems have limited mixing effects during conveying. Multi-shaft systems (especially those with staggered blades) have strong inherent stirring and mixing effects during conveying, enabling integrated conveying and mixing operations.
